Augmented Reality puts fans in the scene at the start of the season
World Premiere Babylon Berlin Season 4 | Delphi Filmtheater Berlin | Sky
On October 08, the fourth season of the series Babylon Berlin started and premiered at its famous filming location, the Delphi Filmtheater in Berlin. Thanks to augmented reality (AR) technology, fans at the premiere could now experience the very special setting of the series and be transported to the legendary Moka Efti. Sky commissioned the Leipzig-based company Sensape to do this. It almost goes without saying that the special premiere celebration and an exclusive preview took place there. At the Delphi Filmpalast today, the numerous guests were able to see a preview of the first three episodes of the season.
"To take the feeling from the Moka Efti home with us, we used our Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality to let visitors take a photo in a scene with the dancing crowd," says Sensape's Michael Lehnert. Sensape is developing artificial intelligence that replaces the background of a photo in real time, without the need for a green screen, allowing for realistic photos in a different scene. For example, visitors saw themselves on a large display on a premiere poster of the series and could pose for a photo. They received this via QR code on their smartphone, where they could share it directly on social media or with friends. "Together with Sky, we wanted to give visitors something to remember the event by, but also to build anticipation for the big season," said Lehnert.
