Ordering the right wine for the meal via smartphone

Winery Clüsserath-Weiler uses Ordering System from Leipzig to improve service.

At the Clüsserath-Weiler winery in the German Mosel region, guests will be able to order wine and culinary specialities via smartphone and yet without an app from mid-July 2021. The technology used is by the company Sensape, which makes it possible to order by scanning a QR code directly at the table. The solution improves the service and creates easier working conditions for the kitchen and service staff.

The Clüsserath-Weiler winery enjoys a good reputation when it comes to producing high-quality wines from the mosel region as well as culinary specialities. Verena Clüssenrath is the tenth generation to run the winery with her husband Raphael Ianniello, who has already cooked together with Wohlfahrt and Lafer and now creates the menus for the winery. In order to improve service as well as processes in the kitchen and in serving, they are introducing the digital ordering system of the Leipzig-based company Sensape, with which guests will be able to order from the menu and wine list directly at the table with their own smartphones. The system ensures more contactless ordering and works entirely without downloading an additional app. Those who still want personal advice or have questions can call staff to the table at the touch of a button. "To call up the menu, simply scan the QR code at the table with the smartphone camera. The menu opens in the browser, where food and drinks can be selected. In the future, we also want to automatically recommend the right wine for each dish," says Ianniello. "With the ordering system, we have a much better overview of the orders by category or table number in the kitchen and can work more systematically and also more accurate. Guests also have the advantage of being able to reorder via mobile phone at any time without having to wait for a service person." This results in an overall shorter waiting time, fewer missed orders and thus an increase in turnover in the restaurant business. In times of the pandemic, another feature is also important: the system takes care of the digital contact tracking right when the order is placed. In cases of infection, the overlapping contacts are automatically output. The process is GDPR-compliant.
